Kerry Mackin,
Executive Director
Kerry Mackin is Executive Director of IRWA, a position she
has held since 1993. In that time, IRWA has grown from a small,
little-known organization to a state leader in protecting
rivers from flow depletion. Kerry is the past president of
the Massachusetts Watershed Coalition, founder of the Ipswich
River Task Force/Watershed Management Council and Massachusetts
Instream Flow Task Force, and she serves on numerous state
and regional advisory boards and committees that focus on
watershed protection. She was recently awarded the River Hero Award by River Network, a national nonprofit. Previously Ms. Mackin was the Conservation
Administrator in Topsfield, and she has served on several
town boards and committees in Ipswich. She has a MS in Natural
Resource Management. She lives in Ipswich with her family.

Trish Aldrich, Development Director
Trish's career in advancing non profit organizations spans twenty years. During that time, she has enjoyed working with conservation organizations both large and small. Most recently, she had the great pleasure of raising funds to safeguard Appleton Farms (and the Crane Estate and Long Hill) for the Trustees of Reservations. Previously she served as Director of Development for Save the Sound, The Nature Conservancy in Massachusetts and Shore Country Day School. In her spare time, Trish plays tennis and raises funds for Stoneridge Children Montessori School, the UU Church in Swampscott and the Winsor School. She has a BA in Plant Ecology from Hampshire College and wrote her thesis on Using Native Species to Revegetate Disturbed Areas. She lived in Alaska for 10 years where she tended Musk Ox, surveyed the vegetation of the interior of Alaska and paddled many wild and cold rivers. Now Trish is very happy to be back in Nahant living with her extended family.

Jessica Darling, Restoration Program Manager
Jess enjoys swimming in and working to protect rivers and wetlands. She recently completed her masters degree in environmental management at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. She also holds a degree in geology and a minor in astronomy from the University of Colorado. In grad school, Jess focused on water science, policy, and management and conducted research on salt marsh restoration. She also worked on river and land protection projects with a Connecticut regional planning council, The Nature Conservancy, and the Connecticut Farmland Trust.

Jim MacDougall, Naturalist
Jim is a local naturalist and professional wetland scientist. His commitment to biodiversity spans more than 30 years. Jim owns and runs a small consulting firm and assists landowners to more fully appreciate their natural resources so they may account for the indigenous biodiversity when making land management decisions. He also is a farmer on a family-owned, small farm which practices organic farming methods, out of respect for the soil, the wildlife, and the neighbors. His previous work experience includes managing property for Essex County Greenbelt Association and Massachusetts Audubon Society. Jim lives in Topsfield and enjoys discovering things in the great outdoors.

Carolyn Favazza, Bookkeeper
Carolyn brings over fifteen years of accounting experience to IRWA. She has worked in the construction, banking, non-profit, and private sectors. Her experience includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, taxes, budgeting, cash forecasting, job costing, and payroll reporting. She resides in Georgetown with her husband, two young sons, and a dog. She volunteers her time with the Boy Scouts and her church. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, scrapbooking, and painting.
