Watershed Management Plan
Spearheaded
by IRWA, a regional initiative brought together stakeholders
from throughout the watershed to identify and implement solutions
to the low flow problems in the Ipswich River and its tributaries.
Under its old name - "The Ipswich River Task Force"
- this group initiated studies that investigated the causes
of low flows in the watershed, including the definitive study
published by the U.S. Geological Survey in 2000. The Task
Force evolved to the Watershed Management Council, reflecting
the long-term nature of its mission and formalizing its role
as an advisor to the state and federal regulatory agencies.
The
Ipswich River Watershed Management Plan, released in 2003,
serves as the 5-year Watershed Action Plan for state planning
purposes.
