DESCRIPTION:\nOn June 17th, 6 – 8 p.m. as the Summer Solstice nears, we welcome Summer.  We are accompanied by the wisdom of Wendell Berry, poet, environmental prophet, farmer, mystic. His iconic poem ‘The Peace of Wild Things’ offers respite and renewal. Our hike is approximately 3 miles of moderate terrain. \n\n\n\nWhere and When:  Beverly Commons Conservation Area, Greenwood Avenue in Beverly (an Essex County Greenbelt Association property).  Parking off of Greenwood Avenue on Stone Bridge Road (right side). June 17th,  6 – 8 p.m. (sunset at 8:25 p.m.)\n\n\n\nWhat to See:  409 acre property with beautiful and varied trails.  Features Old Growth Hemlock Forest, vernal pools, wetland, rock outcropping.  Home of scarlet tanager, wren, broad-winged hawk, ruffed grouse, beaver, deer.\n\n\n\nHistory:  Ancestral home of Pawtucket and Penacook, known for medicinal plants.  In Colonial times was a commons for firewood, grazing and a route from Salem to Gloucester. During the witchcraft hysteria of 1692 was a refuge for those fleeing persecution. \n\n\n\nHosted by North Shore SING (Spirituality in Nature Group), guided by Kent Harrop in partnership with Ipswich River Watershed Association.\n\n\n\nFill out my LGL Form!
