DESCRIPTION:\nWhen: Saturday, September 19th, 9 AM – NoonWhere: Cedar Pond Wildlife Sanctuary, on Cherry Street, between Old Town Way and Morgan Street in Wenham, MA\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHiking with a Meditative Vibe: We will offer our thanks for summer and  welcome Autumn! Accompanied by a wisdom reading of Joy Harjo, first  indigenous poet honored as Poet Laureate of the United States from 2019  – 2022. A member of the Muscogee and Creek Nations in Oklahoma.  She draws upon Creek values, myths and beliefs, Joy believes we become  most human when we understand the connection among all living beings,  human and our more – than – human neighbors in the natural world.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTrails: Hike is rated moderate at 2.9 miles in length over rolling, natural, unpaved and uneven terrain. Kindly consider your physical capacity for a hike of this length.  Walking shoes with good traction, hiking poles optional.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Cedar Pond Sanctuary: Situated within a beautiful mosaic of  protected conservation lands, Cedar Pond an Audubon property, hosts a  mix of upland forest, wooded swamp, marsh, field, bog, and shrub land. It  lies within the Eastern Essex County Interior Forest, providing essential  nesting habitat to numerous bird species as well as resting and feeding  habitat during migration.  A home for amphibians and various mammals. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHike is limited to 20 participants (if full a wait list provided). Hosted by  North Shore Spirituality in Nature Group (NS SING) in partnership with IRWA.
