A Road Map for the River’s Bright Future

River supporters like the attendees of the 1/23 Walk of Boston Brook (above) are the key to protecting the river for current and future generations.

Increased water demand, resource inequity, and a global climate crisis. These are but a few of the big new challenges for achieving our three-part mission to protect Clean Water, provide Enough Water, and restore & protect Habitat. Ipswich River volunteers, members, and staff invested months of planning to craft our next Strategic Plan. This plan is our roadmap forward. The barriers and problems we face are daunting, but with the enthusiastic support of the Ipswich River community we have the confidence to meet them.

Together, We Will Seize the Opportunities Before Us

• Increase the effectiveness and pace of our advocacy, policy and restoration work to ensure that there is enough clean water for people and nature

• Engage a broader and more inclusive audience to join with us in protecting the Watershed, now and into the future

• Strengthen our partnerships and engage our entire watershed community to help create healthier communities

“This plan is the result of river supporters coming together to target the future of the organization,” says Executive Director Wayne Castonguay. We thank everyone who participated in its development. The planning effort was led by our Vice President Ken MacNulty and a sub-committee of the Board of Directors supported by staff. We would like to specifically recognize Jeff Lissack who graciously volunteered his time to guide and facilitate the effort. We also thank the many  members who responded to our survey and the individuals who generously participated in our stakeholder interviews.
