COMMUNITY SERVICES

COMMUNITY SERVICES

The primary purpose of our Community Services work is to provide towns with tools and services that help make compliance with regulations, infrastructure improvements and environmental stewardship cheaper and easier. In addition to working directly with both municipal staff, board and committee members, we also work with communities through our Greenscapes Coalition, PIE-Rivers Partnership and local Stream Teams.

MUNICIPAL SERVICES PROGRAM

Our goal is to work together and find mutually beneficial solutions that address water-related issues. We provide:

  • Technical and outreach support for water-related regulations
  • Climate resilience planning, including support for the state’s Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness program
  • Assessment of barriers to flow and aid in prioritizing and developing projects
  • Support in accessing and understanding funding opportunities
  • Technical review of new development and other projects
  • Outreach and education
  • Advocacy for local and state-wide regulations desired by the towns.

GREENSCAPES

Greenscapes Coalition

The Greenscapes North Shore Coalition is a regional partnership that works to promote and protect beautiful landscapes for clean and plentiful water in the North Shore communities of Massachusetts. Towns that join the Greenscapes Coalition can cost-effectively meet the federal requirements for educating their citizens about water conservation and stormwater. The program offers a comprehensive guide to environmentally friendly landscaping, presentations, a 5th grade in-class education program and outreach materials to participating towns.

STREAM TEAMS

These volunteers are among the most committed and knowledgeable in the watershed, and have undertaken many projects to protect the Ipswich River and educate their communities about issues facing the river. Currently the towns of Reading/North Reading, Middleton, Topsfield and Ipswich have Stream Teams.
