Riverbend Fleet Now Available for Members

We’re happy to announce that our boats are again available for members to use. We have developed new procedures for Riverbend boat use, in accordance with the Governor’s phase I re-opening recreational boat use guidelines and will be updating the guidelines along with the next phase of state re-opening.

Paddling on the Ipswich River is a great way to keep active and enjoy the outdoors. In this era of restrictions designed to protect the health and safety, we have made some modifications in our member boat use guidelines.

  • Until further notice, we ask that you provide your own PFD. We apologize that this may be an inconvenience, but please be safe.
  • Only family/social isolation units should paddle together in a canoe or tandem kayak.
  • Only family/social isolation units should congregate at the dock and boat storage areas.
  • Other paddlers in the queue will need to wait to gather equipment and load until the first group has cleared the dock.
  • Face-masks are required when getting/returning equipment and boats.
  • Boats and equipment should be wiped down before use with disinfectant (provided).
  • The dock is for put-in and take-out only, please do not congregate in the dock area.
  • Paddlers must sign-in and sign our boat use waiver using our online form.
  • Trash bins are provided for disposing of paper towels used for disinfecting boats and equipment only, Riverbend has a carry-in carry-out policy.

Please read through our new Riverbend Boat Use Procedure here. Remember to follow these safe paddling guidelines on and off the water to keep yourself and everyone else safe while having a great time on the river. As always, enjoy paddling the beautiful Ipswich River and please share your photos, videos, and stories with us by email [email protected], Twitter and Instagram @ipswich_river or on Facebook @Ipswich River Watershed Association.

We also encourage you to explore other areas in the watershed, by boat, bike or foot. Perhaps as part of your Paddle-a-thon challenge? Check out the brief watershed tour with Wayne video above, or join us on Thursday, May 28th for the first in a series of Virtual Paddles.
