Interns to Turn Data into Stories

Above Amanda Martinez and fellow Station1 intern Thomas Rua are working with Luke Brogna, Programs Coordinator Ryan O’Donnell, and Executive Director Wayne Castonguay to translate River Health data into an easy to understand story map.

Hello! My name is Amanda Martinez, and I am originally from Evanston Illinois. I recently graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s in Animal Science. In the fall, I will be pursuing a graduate degree in Ecosystem Science and Management at the University of Michigan. Currently, I am a part of Station1, an organization based on socially-directed science and technology inquiry and research. Through Station1 I have been lucky enough to work with Ipswich River to learn and assist with the River Health Index for the Ipswich River. I have learned a great deal about the Ipswich River water quality monitoring programs and river health in general. Furthermore, I am excited that I get to play a role inĀ  protecting nature this summer.

Find more about the River Health Index in the Summer 2021 Newsletter and keep following Ipswich River emails for updates this fall.
