Hi, my name is Sara and I am excited to be joining IRWA as the new Operations Manager. I have a passion for non profits, nature and operational management! I began my career in Texas as a Services and Program Director of a state-wide nonprofit and then transitioned to teaching. When my family moved back to New England, I began working in the outdoor industry and was introduced to many new hobbies! I love spending my free time hiking, kayaking, skiing, backpacking and more! I eventually returned to the nonprofit and education sectors. I worked for a local non profit that helped underserved communities. For the past three years, I have been focusing on supporting teachers and providing tools and strategies for Executive Functions to help all students succeed in school.
In the past two years, my family moved to Exeter, NH and built a home on the banks of the Little River, a tributary of the Exeter River. It was during this time, working with the town officials and navigating the strict environmental permitting, a genuine interest grew to learn more about the river’s health, ecosystem and long-term sustainability. I’ve developed a strong appreciation for the role these ecosystems play in supporting both nature and community. We’ve been fortunate enough to see a wide range of wildlife, from cranes and eagles to turtles, deer and even the occasional bobcat.
As a member of the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and active in advocating for the watershed’s health in and around Exeter, I am excited to work with IRWA and help further their mission and goals. I love that I can bring my non profit and organizational skills combined with my new passion for sustainable rivers to my new job. I look forward to meeting you.
