Qi Gong & Meditation on the Summer Solstice
Celebrate the longest day of the year with movement, mindfulness, and community. Join us at the Ipswich River Watershed Association’s peaceful riverside headquarters for a morning of grounding and renewal.
We’ll begin with Qi Gong, a gentle, flowing practice that combines movement, breath, and awareness to cultivate energy and inner calm. Then we’ll settle in for a guided meditation to quiet the mind and open the heart.
Whether you’re new to meditation or have an established practice, all are welcome. This outdoor session offers a chance to reconnect—with yourself, with nature, and with others—as the sun travels through the sky on the summer solstice.
No need to bring a mat. Wear layers and dress comfortably for being outdoors.
About our guide:

Jan Van Almkerk, at the age of 60, made a significant shift from decades of high-impact aerobics to embrace Restorative yoga and meditation, where she discovered solace in stillness. This transformation redirected her focus, prompting her to explore holistic healing as a Reiki practitioner. Jan’s journey included completing a 200-hour yoga training and certifications in Yin Yoga, deepening her understanding of the mind-body connection.
Now, she generously shares mindfulness practices by teaching Restorative, Yin, and Meditation classes weekly at Ipswich Family YMCA. Additionally, Jan leads monthly Yoga Nidra Meditation sessions at Ipswich Library. Her transition from intense workouts to the peaceful realm of yoga and meditation not only revitalized her well-being but also ignited her passion for guiding others toward inner peace and holistic wellness.Jan Van Almkerk, at the age of 60, made a significant shift from decades of high-impact aerobics to embrace Restorative yoga and meditation, where she discovered solace in stillness.
