Rookery Walk

Join us for a spring adventure in Middleton!

We’ll hike to the largest great blue heron rookery in the Ipswich River watershed—a truly impressive sight. Spring is a magical time to explore nature as a family: migratory birds are returning, amphibians and reptiles are on the move, and plants are beginning to bloom after their long winter rest. If we’re lucky we’ll experience the sights and sounds of many juvenile blue herons! 

This family-friendly hike is just under 2 miles round-trip. Expect muddy spots and be sure to bring water, a snack, and sun protection (a hat or sunscreen). Lace up your boots and come discover the wonders of spring with us—see you on the trail!

When: Saturday May 17, 1-3pm

Where: In Middleton where the Bay Circuit Trail intersects with N Liberty Street. Precise directions will be provided prior to the walk.
