Topsfield Talks Water

The Topsfield Stream Team supports clean plentiful water in many ways, from participating in Riverwide Clean Ups (above) to organizing a Water Talk.

Water Talks, mini-symposiums on town water, have been happening increasingly in Ipswich River communities. Most recently, the Topsfield Stream Team led the effort to host a Water Talk in their town, with presentations by Water Superintendent Greg Krom and our own Executive Director Wayne Castonguay. This Water Talk was just one of many of the projects the Topsfield Stream Team has undertaken since recently reforming. It’s not surprising to have such a dynamic group of local volunteers in a town that, as Wayne says, “is one of the more progressive towns with regard to water conservation and one to be emulated.”

The Water Talk attendees, which included representatives of the Topsfield Water Commission and the Conservation Commission, participated with good questions. Topics ranged from questions about Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFAS) contamination, to future upgrades needed for the town’s water supply and water neutral growth planning. A recording of the mini-symposium is available below and at http://www.boxfordcabletv.com
