Welcome Erin, Our New Environmental Planner

During my interview process for the Planning and Resiliency Program Manager role, I kept hearing from everyone at IRWA that it is an exciting time to be joining the team and I couldn’t agree more.

First of all, it’s an exciting time of year for all of us. The river has thawed and you can feel hints of spring in the air. You can even hear the peepers if you know where to listen! I think everyone feels energized in the spring as we get to rediscover the outside places that we love. That is especially true this spring as we emerge from many pandemic restrictions and get to rediscover the joy of meeting in-person. IRWA is looking forward to a number of hopefully in-person and outdoor events this spring and summer!

It’s also an exciting time for me personally. I’ve been working in the water sector for the past eight years in a research-focused role following completion of my Master of Science degree in Water Science, Policy and Management from Oxford University.  My new position at IRWA represents a shift for me into an advocacy and program manager focused role. I’m looking forward to the new challenges this role brings, and opportunities to implement water management strategies that I have been researching in my previous work. Additionally, my family relocated from Boston to the North Shore in the fall of 2021. I’m excited to be working locally in this community and meeting people in the area who are similarly passionate about protecting local watershed resources.

And lastly, it is a very exciting time for IRWA. The Planning and Resiliency Program Manager role builds off the work being done by previous Environmental Planners with the additional focus of improving resiliency across the watershed in the face of ongoing development and the challenges posed by climate change. I look forward to building on our existing partnerships through PIE Rivers and the Greenscapes coalition, expanding our municipal services program to help communities in the watershed implement climate resiliency and enhancement projects, and getting stakeholders across the region as excited about watershed-scale planning as I am!
