Welcoming Spring Equinox: Walking with Celtic Wisdom of John Muir
Date: Saturday, March 21
Time: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Location: Bradley Palmer State Park
40 Asbury St., Topsfield, MA
Welcome the Spring Equinox with a guided, meditative hike through the forests, meadows, and river trails of Bradley Palmer State Park. This 736-acre landscape of hardwoods, pines, and Ipswich River views offers a fitting setting to explore the nature-rooted wisdom of John Muir.
Along the trail, we will pause for readings from Muir, founder of the Sierra Club and a champion of Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks. A son of Scotland, Muir carried Celtic spiritual traditions throughout his life, seeing the natural world as sacred and alive with meaning. As he wrote, “The universe is a sacred text. The winds, the waters, the springs are all words from our Creator.”
Our walk will take us past vernal pools and early signs of spring, with moments of silence woven in to deepen reflection and connection. Expect birdsong, flowing water, and the quiet work of the season turning.
