Ipswich River Watershed Association was recently awarded the Water Quality Restoration Program (WQRP) Roadmap Pilot Grant by the Division of Ecological Restoration (DER). This grant program seeks to increase the ability of both communities and watershed organizations to achieve measurable water quality improvements and protections.
With development pressure increasing across the watershed and the safe yield for withdrawing water from the river already exceeded, where will the water come from to serve all this new growth?

On Saturday, October 19th, a volunteer team from the Nor’East chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Sea Run Brook Trout Coalition, both of which support fisheries conservation projects, joined us for a work event on Pye Brook, near Hood Pond in Topsfield. The purpose of this event was to prepare the stream flowing out of Hood Pond for the planned reintroduction of river herring after an absence of nearly 100 year.
