Join us for a fall morning exploring Bare Meadow Conservation Area in Reading! This 125-acre protected open space is home to grassy meadows, hardwood forests, vernal pools, historic stone walls, and a rich history.
On this guided walk, we’ll learn about the land’s history, recent restoration efforts, and the important role this conservation area plays in the health of the Ipswich River watershed.
We’ll be joined by:
- Neil Shea, Restoration Director at Ipswich River Watershed Association, who will share how restoration at Bare Meadow supports the health of the Ipswich River and its watershed.
- Kim Honetschlagger, Reading resident and IRWA Board Member, who will explore the history of the area and recent trail upgrades.
- A representative from the Reading Conservation Committee, who will share more about the Bare Meadow conservation project and the work happening here in Reading.
Bare Meadow is part of a larger network of protected wetlands and forests, including North and South Cedar Swamp, Fairbanks Marsh, Anderson Meadow, Marion Woods, and other conservation lands across Reading. Together, these connected landscapes help protect wildlife habitat, water quality, and the health of the watershed.
