Trails & Sails Paddle
Restoring the Ipswich River: Imagining the River’s Future
Did you know that in 2021 the Ipswich River was named one of America’s Most Endangered Rivers® of 2021 by American Rivers? Learn about the work we do to get our river off of that list. Join us at our headquarters in Ipswich where we will paddle to downtown Ipswich and then back. Through restoration projects like dam removal and invasive species management, to advocacy work around water conservation – we have the solutions to ensure a bright future for our river. Join us on this paddle to learn more about our vision for the river and witness this precious resource first-hand.
The Ipswich River is known for being a perfect destination for paddlers of all levels and experience. Boats, paddles, and life jackets are available. Spaces are limited. All participants must wear a PFD (personal flotation device). This event is suitable for individuals with some basic boating experience.

Celebrating its 23rd year in 2024, Trails & Sails is an event series that brings awareness and appreciation for heritage resources around Essex County, Massachusetts, which is a federally designated National Heritage Area. Historically, Trails & Sails has focused on outdoor activities such as guided hikes and excursions on the water, but over the years it has grown to include historic house tours, lectures, community celebrations, special exhibitions, craft demonstrations, and many other diverse activities.
