Welcoming the Winter Solstice
When: Saturday, December 19, 2026 2:30-5 pm
Where: Ipswich River Watershed Association (IRWA), 143 County Road, Ipswich
Join us for a reflective afternoon in nature as we prepare to welcome the Winter Solstice—the moment when the light begins to return. This peaceful afternoon invites you to slow down, connect with nature, and reflect on the quiet beauty of winter’s arrival.
We’ll begin with a mindful walk, guided by Kent Harrop, along the trails to Julia Bird Reservation—moving through the stillness of the landscape and observing the subtle signs of transition. Upon returning to IRWA, we’ll gather around the fire with hot drinks overlooking the river for a simple solstice ritual led by Stacy Keane Blagg and Joe Iriana, celebrating the coming of winter, the turning of the seasons, and the light within our community. Be sure to dress warmly.
Join us in welcoming the deep peace of winter.
Participants are encouraged to bring a headlamp since this program will be happening as nighttime sets in.
This event is a partnership between the Ipswich River Watershed Association (IRWA) and the North Shore Spirituality in Nature Group (NS SING). Free and open to the community. We strive to provide a welcoming and affirming environment for people of all genders.
