Mindful Movement & Meditation at Riverbend

In a world grappling with the urgent challenges of climate change, building inner resilience and tranquility becomes more important than ever. Change can evoke anxiety and stress, weighing heavily on our minds and bodies. Mindful movement and meditation offer a powerful tools to cultivate personal resilience in the face of these environmental shifts and any change for that matter.

At this event we’ll gather at our headquarters, overlooking the Ipswich River. We’ll slow our bodies down, allowing our minds to settle in for a restful meditation session that will incorporate breath work and sound meditation practices.

What to Expect: 30 minutes of gentle yoga followed by 30 minutes of meditation. No yoga mat needed. Wear comfortable clothing.

About our Presenters:

Jan Van Almkerk, at the age of 60, made a significant shift from decades of high-impact aerobics to embrace Restorative yoga and meditation, where she discovered solace in stillness. This transformation redirected her focus, prompting her to explore holistic healing as a Reiki practitioner. Jan’s journey included completing a 200-hour yoga training and certifications in Yin Yoga, deepening her understanding of the mind-body connection. Now, she generously shares mindfulness practices by teaching Restorative, Yin, and Meditation classes weekly at Ipswich Family YMCA. Additionally, Jan leads monthly Yoga Nidra Meditation sessions at Ipswich Library. Her transition from intense workouts to the peaceful realm of yoga and meditation not only revitalized her well-being but also ignited her passion for guiding others toward inner peace and holistic wellness.

Carla is the Engagement Manager at Ipswich River Watershed Association and Yoga Instructor. She loves how yoga and nature can help us tune in to our body, mind, and spirit. Her classes help you meet your body where it is today through conscious breathing and gentle yoga styles. With a focus on regulating our nervous systems through slow flow, restorative, and yin yoga practices, she invites you to explore the physical and mental benefits of yoga.
