Beaver Patrol Paddle

When: Monday, June 1st, 5:30–7:30 PM | National Rivers Day
Where: Riverbend, IRWA Headquarters — 143 County Road, Ipswich

Celebrate National Rivers Day by taking to the water in search of beaver activity on the Ipswich River! While a beaver sighting is never guaranteed, the evidence of their work is hard to miss — we’ll paddle upstream past vacant and inhabited lodges before reaching the remnants of a beaver dam.

What to expect: We’ll kick things off with a brief on-land safety orientation before heading out for a relaxed, social paddle. Along the way, enjoy the peaceful scenery and spot the wildlife that depends on this vital river ecosystem.

River flows are currently low, so shallow sections may require some extra paddling effort — or a quick hop out of your boat to walk it through. Kayaks are recommended for the conditions. The good news: the return trip is downstream, making for a gentle, scenic float back to the dock just as the early summer evening settles in.

All gear provided — boats, paddles, and life vests included.
